Childhood traumas

Image
Hey, and welcome to my final post on this blog. This post is dedicated for my final task for the course and my theme for the task was childhood traumas and more so the characters that caused those traumas. This idea came to me when I started to think all of the character that I was scared when I was a child and I really wanted to know what experiences other people had. It didn’t come to me as a surprise that pretty much all of the people here in Finland had pretty similar experiences, although there were some unexpected characters and new info I found out while doing my research for this project. For my practical part of the task I wanted to create short illustration book of these characters. Alright, I think that’s enough exposition, and without further ado, let’s delve into the nightmares.    My own experiences For me all of my childhood nightmares lead to one specific anime called Silver Fang , and more so on very specific character from that anime, Akakabuto. I ...

Fallout 76

So Bughesda released on of my most anticipated games of this year Fallout 76, and boy oh boy what a release it was. The game is riddled with bugs and before you even open the game you can encounter one of the worst bugs in gaming history. You see Bethesda's launcher had a bug during Fallouts beta that deleted all of the games data from your computer if you pushed any key in the launcher. 50GB of data gone with a push of a button and many people lost valuable Beta time because they had to download the game again. The launcher was so bugged actually that it even released the game early on its own. Anyone worldwide could play the game if they simply waited 20 seconds after the launcher stated that the game is not out yet... Now I have to say here for full transparency that I don’t own this game nor have I played it, but I have read tons of articles and watched tons of videos and streams of this game (I’m watching one right now as I write this ). And you know this post is just my...

MUSE - Simulation Theory

Image
How do you do fellow kids? 80’s aesthetic is pretty cool, huh? Gosh I’m such a retro nerd haha, hey remember arcades? Far out, man!  (this is just a jab at the 80's style fad going around, not necessarily at this album) So MUSE dropped a new album titled Simulation Theory and I want to talk about what I feel about it. Now let me premise this by saying, I like like MUSE a lot. Origin Of Symmetry is one of my favorite albums of all time and Absolution and Black Holes And Revelations are great albums that listen from time to time. But now every time I hear something new from Muse I’m just not impressed by them anymore, every time it just feels like they could do so much more with their music. So that being said, let’s start going through this 21 tracks long album! Jesus. It’s actually 11 tracks but the second half is alternative versions of the songs and I’m not going to talk about them in this post.                 The albums open...

MindTrek 2018

Image
So I went to a international technology conference called MindTrek on 10th-11th of October and it was a pretty fun experience although as a student I kinda felt like the conference wasn’t for me. It was more business oriented and all of the lectures were more of a tool for the businesses to promote themselfs to the other businesses attending MindTrek. Some of the speakers were really entertaining and I genuinely found myself interested in the subject and said presentation.   One of these presentations were Enea Le Fons presentation, who stayed in vr for 30 days!! (well it was more like 60 days)    Enea Le Fons ( Picture from MindTrek's website ) The journey began by him modeling his apartment in 3D and adding some items from his household to the virtual reality by placing some sensor on chairs, vacuum cleaners and some mugs. He stayed couple days in his apartment but pretty early on he decided to tear down the apartments walls so he cou...

Spoon - Inside Out

Image
So for this blog post we had to analyse a music video and the lyrics of the song. I had hard time picking one music video for this task because there are so many amazing music videos with deep metaphors, messages and superb visuals, but for now I went with one of my favorite “chill” songs, “Inside Out” by Spoon (the whole “They Want My Soul” album is grea t btw.) . It’s super chill song to vibe to and the visuals in this video are trippy and weird so it’s something interesting to look at too!   The songs meaning is pretty straight forward.  A man has found his one true love and can’t seem to focus on anything else than her. Time seems to slow down every time he sees her (“Time gets distorted when there's intense gravity”) and he feels this immense traction to her (“There's intense gravity in you”) to the point that his life and all that he thinks about revolves around her, him just being a satellite orbiting her (“I'm just your satellite”). In the meantime ...
